St Mary's School Tauranga, New Zealand

04 Nov 2016

Every year around the Feast Days of All Saints and All Souls, the staff and pupils of St Mary's School, Tauranga, New Zealand pay special tribute to all the Cluny Sisters who have died in the Province of New Zealand and the Philippines. This is the foundation site in New Zealand for the Province. The day begins with a solemn School Eucharist celebrated in St Mary's Church, Parish of St Thomas Aquinas. Present were the Principal, staff, parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and our Cluny Sisters.

This year the sisters present were Sr Allison Macalister (Provincial Leader), Sr Gabrielle O'Neill and Sr Emeli Marafono all members of the Provincial House Community. Following the Eucharist, all senior students and their teachers together with Ben Fuller (Principal), Anna MacKinnon (Deputy Principal) and Teresa Rush (Directress of Religious Education) gathered at the cemetery with Rev. Fr Stewart Young for a special memorial prayer service at the graves of our Cluny Sisters. Each sister's grave was blessed and a beautiful floral tribute was placed on the grave by the senior students while a Maori Hymn to our Lady was sang (Mo Maria). Our sincere gratitude to the principal, staff and students of St Mary's School for this moving memorial celebration of our Cluny Sisters lives.

May they Rest in Peace!
