St Joseph Secondary School Diamond Jubilee - Suva Fiji

14 Sep 2016

September 4th - 11th was the Diamond Jubilee of St Joseph's Secondary School on it's present site Waimanu Road Suva, Fiji Islands. Alumnae from around the globe gathered to mark this special occasion. Present was our Provincial Sister Allison Macalister together with Sister Irene Bouchier-Hayes, Sister Francis Kelly and Sister Emeli Marafono from New Zealand. Also present was Sister Teresa Momoyalewa from Rarotonga, Cook Islands. They joined with the Sisters in Fiji together with all the various alumnae from 1950's - 2016. It was a very joyous and moving occasion for all. They were great reunions of principals, teachers and classmates who hadn't met each other for many, many years. The atmosphere was electrifying.

Each day had its own theme. It began with the Holy Eucharist celebrated in the Sacred Heart Cathedral. There was an Island Night, a Graveside Memorial Service for the Deceased Cluny Sisters, a Family Fun Day, a Masquerade Neon Party, a Day celebrating with the School which ended with a parade around the streets led by the Fiji Military Force Band, a Walk Down Memory Lane, a Diamond Soiree de Gala and ended with a Thanks Giving Mass celebrated by His Grace Archbishop Peter Loy Chong (Archbishop of Suva, Rotuma, Rabi and Kioa)

We continue to thank the Lord for a wonderful celebration and we pray that the spiritual and academic excellence of the St Joseph Secondary School will continue to provide women of quality for the Church, the country and the world.
